
Čutkovská dolina belongs to the most popular and most accessible gateways to the Veľká Fatra mountain range. It is located right on the edge of the town of Ružomberok and combines family relaxation, traditional Liptov gastronomy and mountain nature.
Main attractions and points of interest
Educational trail "Known – unknown Čutkovská dolina"
- It runs the entire length of the valley (approx. 6.1 km one way) alongside the Čutkovo stream.
- Along the route there are information boards, rest benches, springs and wooden bridges.
- The trail ends at the head of the valley at the Čutkovský kaňon (Za Dielom gorge).
Waterfalls and gorges
- Jelení vodopád: A waterfall approximately 24 meters high in a side ravine, accessible via wooden walkways and stairs.
- Jamišný vodopád: A smaller but picturesque waterfall (approx. 12 m) in another side gorge.
- Tiesňava Za Dielom: A rocky gorge 68 meters long with cascades and a wild stream.
Area at the beginning of the valley (suitable for families with children)
- Koliba u dobrého pastiera: Complex of traditional wooden houses offering Liptov cuisine, a bakery, a brewery, and a chapel.
- Detský zábavný park Obrovo: Area thematically dedicated to the giant Čutko with climbing frames, trampolines, archery, and a zip-line course.
- Rybník a zvieracia obora: Opportunity for fishing, a mini-zoo with domestic animals and wild boars.
Brown trout
An original and iconic species of salmonid fish of Slovak mountain and sub-mountain streams. It is a perfect bioindicator of water purity.
European grayling
An elegant salmonid fish inhabiting the submontane zones of clean rivers (grayling zone), typical of streams such as the Váh, Orava, or Belá. It is prized by sport anglers especially for its wariness and elegance.
European bitterling
A small, legally protected cyprinid fish inhabiting clean, cold, oxygen-rich mountain streams of the trout zone. Together with the brown trout, it is one of the native inhabitants of the highest-altitude watercourses in Slovakia.
Striped Ruffe
An inconspicuous, strictly protected benthic fish of the mountain and sub-mountain streams of Kysuce, Orava, Liptov and Turiec. It is one of our native species adapted to life exclusively on the stony bottom of the cleanest watercourses.
Connection with Hrabovská dolina
- An easy trail leads over the forest ridge
, which connects Čutkovská dolina with Hrabovo (cable car to Malinô Brdo, water reservoir, rope park). This route is suitable for cyclists and tourists, and along the way we encounter lost giant items such as a chair, glasses or binoculars.
